Sharon “Rocky” Roggio is an independent filmmaker, director, producer, and production designer whose career has included work on major film and television productions.
Her experience behind the camera provided the creative foundation that eventually led her to direct her first feature documentary, 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture.
As both a filmmaker and member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Rocky brings authenticity, compassion, and curiosity to her work. Her storytelling reflects a desire to explore history thoughtfully while creating space for respectful dialogue among people with differing perspectives.

About the Film
1946 explores the appearance of the word
“homosexual”
in the 1946 Revised Standard Version of the Bible and examines how that translation choice has influenced decades of discussion surrounding faith, biblical interpretation, and LGBTQ+ people.
The documentary features historians, biblical scholars, linguists, researchers, pastors, and personal stories. The film isn’t about pushing a narrative but instead inviting audiences of all backgrounds to examine historical evidence,
consider different perspectives, and engage thoughtfully with the questions raised throughout the film.

One of the greatest privileges of hosting the Loving Kindness Everyday Podcast is introducing people to individuals whose work encourages thoughtful conversation.
